Craig became
involved in drag racing as a spectator about 15 years
ago and started out by racing numerous street type vehicles
which included a 14 second original GTR-XU1 Torana and
a 12 second Monaro.
With
a desire to go quicker, a half chassis MK1 Cortina was
purchased and fitted with a 350 Chev which ran into
the mid 10s. At this stage Craig decided to step up
and run Super Gas. Craig built the 400 Chev which pushed
the Cortina into 9.6 second zone, plenty of power for
Super Gas (9.90) and proved to be a very competitive
combination.
The Roberts Racing JE Camira was then purchased to replace
the Cortina and with the same engine installed lowered
times into the 9.1 second range. He built another 400
Chev and times dropped into the 8.8 second range when
Calder began to run their Super Modified bracket (8.90
fixed index), where he raced with success until the
bracket was dropped.
At
this point Craig decided to step up to Group 2 rather
than returning to Super Gas. The Camira was sold and
the championship winning C/A roller was purchased from
Rod Rainford. To date, the full potential of the package
has yet to be realised but he hopes the future will
bring success for the hard working Geddes Racing team.
Craig
would like to thank his sponsors; Dominator Converters,
R & C Automotive, Beaurepaires, Craig Signs and
Albins Offroad Gear. Special thanks go to the crew and
to the following people for their honest and helpful
advice; Jason from Dominator, Paul Rogers, Tony Buscher,
Peter Ridgeway & the other people he annoys on the
phone from time to time.
